Applications in the automotive sector

ALMEMO® 500 Connections

ALMEMO® data loggers offer the perfect solution for a wide range of measurement applications due to the flexible and uncomplicated acquisition of various measured variables. For example, when carrying out outdoor weathering tests, a wide variety of measurement variables are used. A multitude of temperatures and humidity as well as the influences of UV radiation or global radiation must be recorded. In combination with a weather station, these measured variables can be assigned to the respective environmental conditions. The flexible connection possibilities of ALMEMO® measurement technology such as USB, Ethernet, WLan up to GPRS radio connections offer the possibility to reliably record, monitor and evaluate the measurement data even when mobile.

CAN Tracer

For troubleshooting and analysis of CAN bus based systems it may be necessary to collect and correlate the output data of the system under investigation, environmental data and CAN bus data together.

With an ALMEMO® data logger, the software WinControl (and a USB-CAN-Bus adapter) all relevant data can be collected and visualized. The software WinControl can also record the CAN telegrams and display them synchronized on cursor positions in the line diagram of the corresponding measurement data. This provides a solution that is compact in its operating concept and also proves its worth in mobile use or for necessary analyses on site. (Akrobit-Software GmbH)

ALMEMO® in E-Mobility

ALMEMO® data loggers are used at battery test benches, for testing power components or in the production of battery cells. The data loggers store all parameters such as voltage, current, temperatures and all other important physical measured variables. The measured data can be recorded by the WinControl software. By exposing the control commands ALMEMO® data loggers can also be evaluated and processed by the measurement software of other manufacturers.

GPS mouse

The ALMEMO® GPS mouse FGD701 is used to acquire 14 measurement parameters. Up to 10 measurement channels can be displayed simultaneously via an ALMEMO® D7 connector. Among other things the longitude, latitude, altitude, speed, world time, direction of movement, etc. are recorded. This offers the possibility to assign measured values such as temperature, solar radiation and other measured variables to specific locations. Especially for vehicle tests under realistic conditions this makes it easier to assign the measured values.

Tire test bench

The realization of a test stand for the simultaneous measurement of the pressure of, for example, up to forty car tires requires not only a concept for the asynchronous acquisition and archiving of data in accordance with the test standard and the quality assessment (alarm in case of defects) for each individual test specimen, but also an operating concept which makes faulty operation and mix-ups almost impossible.

Such a concept is implemented with an ALMEMO® data acquisition system MA500 and the software WinControl. The processes are controlled exclusively by scanning the test station IDs and the test item numbers using barcode scanners. On a large screen the current status and the remaining time of the test is displayed for each test object. At the end of a test and in case of malfunctions, the operating personnel is notified by e-mail.

Motor test bench

Various pressures, temperatures, speeds, flow rates and ambient conditions can be recorded on an engine test bench. Using the mobile data logger ALMEMO® MA 710 the measured values are recorded locally and visualized directly at the test bench.

At the same time, the data is transferred via the ALMEMO® Ethernet interface ZA1945DKU to a measuring computer with the WinControl software for evaluation. Parallel to the acquired data, the CAN Tracer can display everything absolutely simultaneously and correctly interpreted. Long-term measurements as well as short-term changes in the measurement setup can thus be realized without any problems.

Light management in the automotive sector

Whether dipped headlights, rear lights, turn signals or even the interior lighting, everything in automotive engineering is precisely controlled by electronics. Therefore it is important to test all light components precisely for performance and especially for long-term behaviour. The place of application is not only the laboratory. ALMEMO® data loggers also record and store the measured values in and on the car in field tests. The measured data is transferred online to the measuring laboratory during the test or read out from the data loggers after the test.

The ALMEMO® connector system D7 helps to comply with the DAkkS standards without loss of time

With digitalisation, autonomous driving and electric mobility, extensive changes are imminent. ALMEMO® digital technology supports this process. With the digitization of sensors according to Industry 4.0 it is possible, for example, to view sensors and measuring equipment separately with regard to a traceable calibration. Each sensor forms a closed measuring chain.

Only the measuring probes with the digital ALMEMO® D7 connector are certified and not the whole measuring chain. All relevant data of the measuring probe are stored in the ALMEMO® connector and the communication between ALMEMO® D7 connector and measuring device is exclusively digital. Therefore no distortion of the measuring signal can occur. If the measuring probe has to be recalibrated or even replaced, the sensor is simply exchanged. Sensor and measuring instrument do not have to be recalibrated together. Nearly all measured variables can be acquired by the ALMEMO® D7 connector, e.g. temperature, current, voltage, frequencies and many more. It is also possible to integrate third-party adaptations of other transducers analog and digital.
